Three brothers, all dentists, running one practice

Legacy Dental Care sits in the south Calgary community it is named after, owned and run by three brothers who all practise here: Dr. Sandon, Dr. Jayde and Dr. Laiton Wiedemann. The office is deliberately boutique — its interior earned a feature in Lonny magazine — and it is built around multigenerational families: with several dentists and hygienists on the floor, more than one member of a household can be seated at once — the practical reason families pick it after a move.

Treatments and services

Hygiene is graded rather than uniform: a routine scale and polish, a mid-level cleaning for heavy calculus and early gum inflammation, root planing for advanced gum disease, then maintenance. Restorative and surgical work stays in-house — tooth-coloured fillings, crowns and bridges, veneers, implants, root canal treatment and extractions. Invisalign goes to older teens and adults; one associate concentrates on early-intervention orthodontics for children. Time is reserved daily for emergencies — broken and knocked-out teeth, damaged dentures, swelling, sudden sensitivity — often settled in a single visit.

Technology

The intraoral camera defines how the practice talks to patients: high-resolution images of a cracked tooth, gum recession or calculus go straight to the treatment-room screen, so an option is shown before it is chosen. Digital x-rays carry a fraction of film’s radiation. Nitrous oxide sedation is used for nervous adults and children, and a dental laser covers frenectomies, tongue-tie release and periodontal surgery.

The dentists

Dr. Sandon Wiedemann took his dental degree at Case Western Reserve in 2013 with an award for clinical achievement and follows the Kois teaching. Dr. Jayde Wiedemann graduated from the University of Alberta in 2011 and added a hospital residency at Vancouver General. Dr. Laiton Wiedemann, University of Alberta 2014, leans toward children’s dentistry. Associate Dr. Elisha Chapman works in early orthodontics; patients name hygienist Harleen again and again.
