The club is home to talented athletes who are dedicated to the game and driven by team spirit. About the Club and Its Mission

Calgary Wild FC was founded to bring professional women’s soccer to Calgary and to inspire the city’s young women to get involved in sports.

The club’s founders believe that sport can be a powerful driver of social change. Their vision was to create a sustainable future for women’s sports in Canada by offering young women a clear pathway to professional soccer and empowering them to become leaders both on and off the pitch. The players of Calgary Wild FC strive to be true role models, creating exciting opportunities for young female athletes in Calgary.

Calgary Wild FC plays its home games at McMahon Stadium. The club also partners with Canada Soccer’s National Development Centre.

Canada Soccer’s National Development Centre

Canada Soccer’s National Development Centre is a program focused on women’s soccer development, run by the Canadian Soccer Association in partnership with various provincial associations. In September 2024, it was announced that Calgary Wild FC would take over the management of this program in Alberta.

This means that Calgary Wild FC is now not only a professional women’s soccer team but also a central hub for developing the province’s future athletes, nurturing talent through both the League1 Alberta youth competitions and the National Development Centre.

The Club’s Name and Crest

The club’s brilliant name, Calgary Wild FC, was chosen to reflect the character of its people: “Calgary is a wild city. It’s untamed and isn’t afraid to have a good time. No one tames our city. This is the new Wild West. This is Wild Rose Country. Get ready for the call of the wild.”

The club is ready to live up to its name. The women on the team are brave, strong, and true catalysts for change.

The club is deeply rooted in the city’s community and culture. The crest, for example, features an owl symbolizing strength and wisdom, representing Calgary’s pursuit of excellence. The team’s colours, purple and red, symbolize the city’s vibrant sunsets and the famous Calgary Tower.

Above the owl is the letter “W,” and its five points symbolize the “Famous Five”—a group of women who fought for women to be recognized as “persons” under the law.

How to Support the Team

There are many ways to support the women’s soccer club. Of course, the most obvious way is to attend Calgary Wild FC matches. The club also has a merchandise shop with stylish T-shirts, sweatshirts, scarves, and hats. This gear isn’t just for game day; it’s perfect for everyday wear. Style your team merch, share your look on Instagram, and tag @calgarywildfc. It’s a true wild style!

You can also support the team financially through crowdfunding campaigns or charitable donations. Additionally, you can volunteer with the team to help with match-day organization or youth outreach programs.

Calgary Wild FC is more than just a soccer club; it’s a symbol of a new era in women’s sports in Calgary and across Alberta. The team unites the community, inspires girls and women to lead active lifestyles, and proves that soccer is about strength, passion, and the power to change society.
