One couple, two chairs, one long chart

R&A Dentistry is not a rotation of dentists on shift. It is Dr. Rustam Mamiashev and Dr. Ania Mamiasheva, married since their student years in Bishkek, who opened this Mission practice after each earned a Canadian dental degree a second time — his at Western Ontario, hers at UBC. A patient stays with the same pair of hands, and the pair splits the work: cosmetic and restorative cases are his, surgery, root canals and children hers. That continuity is what the larger clinics in the Calgary top ten cannot copy.

Services

General: exams and hygiene, sealants, white fillings, inlays and onlays, bonding, root canal therapy, full and partial dentures. Surgical: extractions, wisdom tooth removal, bone and gum grafting, implant placement. Cosmetic: whitening, veneers, crowns and bridges. Appliances: night guards for grinding, sport guards, snoring appliances. Sedation is available for anxious patients, and botulinum toxin is used therapeutically as well as cosmetically — for pain driven by overworked jaw muscles.

Technology

CEREC CAD/CAM designs and mills a crown in the office, so the restoration finishes without a temporary and a second appointment. A Photon soft-tissue diode laser does the gum work, an intra-oral camera puts the dentist’s view on screen, and Schick 33 digital sensors keep the radiation dose low. The Isolite 3 system lights and dries the field at once, shortening longer procedures.

Children

Dr. Ania runs the children’s schedule, and the sequence is deliberate: under-threes come first for a happy visit with no treatment at all, then nitrous oxide in a scent the child chooses, cartoons during the work, space maintainers when a baby tooth is lost early. Ukrainian-speaking parents describe first appointments here that undid a bad experience elsewhere.
